Norway Maple

Acer platanoides

A smaller and more slender tree than it's relation, sycamore, it will reach a maximum height of 90ft (27m).
It tolerates pollution making it suitable for growing in towns although the ubiquitous grey squirrel is liable to attack young trees and damage the bark. The tree is very hardy and quite resistant to frost damage.

Good quality Norway Maple timber can be valuable and is used for musical instruments veneering.
