Bird Cherry

Prunus padus

Bird Cherry is commonly found by streams in limestone areas, but also grows well in damp woodlands and hedgerows.

The Bird Cherry is often planted as an ornamental tree due to its long spikes of white blossoms in May giving off an almond fragrance.

Native to northern Britain, Wales and East Anglia, it grows to a height 20-30ft (6-9m).
