| The Quality systems we have introduced ensure that our ways of working internally and with our customers are clearly documented. This enables us to provide a consistent service and one which we believe our customers can rely upon. Our Quality Assurance Manual is available for customers to inspect when they visit the nursery.
We have invested considerable time and thought developing software capable of following the plants grown from the seed as they pass through the nursery in their various phases of production. This has provided us with a unique traceability system.
Each batch of seed is given a unique number as it is received. Each batch can be split into several sub-batches for sowing into different containers or at different times of the year.
Each sub-batch is uniquely identified by a code and allocated to one of 16,000 uniquely bar-coded growing frames.
These frames are then tracked as they move from each part of the nursery to another and eventually brought in for grading and despatch.
Information on the location of each frame is held on our central database which is updated daily from information gathered on hand-held Husky data collection units.
This system allows our customers to have complete confidence in our ability to trace stock being grown to order for them. We encourage customers, who have given us seed to grow on contract, to visit and inspect their plants. |
