The Pedunculate Oak tree (Quercus Robur) is one of Britain's most iconic native broadleaf trees, widely recognised as the English oak tree and a cornerstone of UK woodland and landscape planting. Also known as the common oak tree, the Pedunculate Oak takes its name from the long stalks, or peduncles, that attach the acorns to the branches, distinguishing it from the closely related Sessile Oak. Growing to between 20 and 40 metres in height, this long-lived tree adapts to a wide range of soils from heavy clay to well-drained loam and tolerates both acidic and alkaline conditions, making it one of the most versatile large trees available.

A keystone species for UK biodiversity, Pedunculate Oak trees support more wildlife than almost any other native tree, with acorns providing a vital food source for birds and small mammals in autumn.

Drought-resistant once established and suitable for full sun or partial shade, Pedunculate Oak trees are a long-term investment for estates, parkland, and large landscape planting.
