The Sycamore tree (Acer Pseudoplatanus) is a large, fast-growing deciduous broadleaf tree widely planted across the UK for its broad canopy and adaptability to a wide range of environments. Growing to between 20 and 35 metres with a spread of 15 to 25 metres, Sycamore trees develop large lobed dark green leaves that turn golden-yellow in autumn and produce distinctive winged seeds in late summer. Tolerant of a wide range of soils including clay and chalk, highly resistant to pollution, and capable of thriving in exposed conditions and full sun to partial shade, the Sycamore tree is one of the most resilient large trees available for UK planting.

Excellent for shade, windbreaks, and reforestation projects, Sycamore trees establish quickly and produce strong, durable timber valued for furniture, flooring, and musical instruments.

Spring flowers provide nectar for bees, the late summer seeds attract birds and small mammals, and the broad canopy provides nesting and roosting habitat throughout the year.
