Finding plastic-free alternatives to protect young trees

Young trees are often grown in nurseries until they are three to five years old, at which point they are protected for at least five years by plastic tubes.

Planting a tree with plastic guards has a carbon footprint that is at least twice as high as planting a tree without any, even if the guards are collected and recycled.

Check out this piece on a UCL project investigating plastic free alternatives to protect young trees. We are proud to of supported the researchers in this project.
