Guelder Rose Shrub (Viburnum Opulus)

Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus) is a hardy, native viburnum shrub, valued for its large, lace cap clusters of white flowers in late spring and early summer, followed by bunches of glossy red berries in autumn that feed birds. Deeply lobed, maple-like leaves turn brilliant red in autumn, adding a further season of colour. Guelder Rose grows well in most soils except very acidic ground, and tolerates sun or partial shade, suiting hedgerows, borders and wildlife planting schemes. Left to develop naturally, Viburnum opulus can reach up to 5 metres in height.
