The Large-Leaved Lime tree (Tilia Platyphyllos) is a fast-growing native broadleaf lime tree capable of reaching up to 40 metres in height, making it one of the most impressive trees for large gardens, parks, estates, and formal avenues. Lush, broad foliage provides dense shade throughout the growing season, and in June and July, clusters of yellow-white, highly scented flowers emerge, drawing bees and other pollinators in significant numbers. Shade-resilient and tolerant of most soil types including clay, the Large-Leaved Lime is easy to prune and shape and performs well in both urban and rural settings.

Long-lived and capable of surviving for several centuries, Large-Leaved Lime trees are a long-term investment for landscape planting, developing a stately and enduring presence that improves with age.

Tolerant of strong winds in sheltered positions, Large-Leaved Lime trees are well suited to formal avenue planting and estate grounds wherever an impressive canopy tree is required.
