Macedonian Pine Tree (Pinus Peuce)

Macedonian Pine (Pinus peuce) is a slow growing, evergreen conifer tree native to the mountainous regions of the Balkans, admired for its slender, upright form and soft, bluish green needles arranged in bundles of five. This hardy pine tree is well suited to harsh climates, thriving in both dry and cold environments once established, and requires little care beyond planting in well drained soil and avoiding waterlogged conditions. Cylindrical, reddish brown cones mature to a glossy brown, adding visual interest, while smooth grey bark becomes rough and flaky with age. Macedonian Pine typically reaches between 10 and 30 metres in height, with a spread of 4 to 6 metres, making it a manageable choice even in smaller spaces.

Well suited to windbreaks and screens, Macedonian Pine is a striking conifer tree for large gardens, parks or naturalistic planting schemes at higher altitudes.

Slow growing and resistant to pests and disease, this pine tree remains a manageable, long term choice for exposed or poor soil sites.
