Maritime Pine Tree (Pinus Pinaster)

Maritime Pine (Pinus pinaster) is a bold, rugged evergreen conifer tree, valued for its long, dark green needles and distinctive, irregular crown. This striking pine tree brings a touch of Mediterranean character to the garden, thriving in poor, sandy soils and coastal conditions where many other conifers struggle. Rather than flowers, Maritime Pine produces large, woody cones and dense foliage that provide shelter for birds and other wildlife, while showing excellent tolerance to wind and salt laden air. Naturally growing into a tall, open tree, Maritime Pine is best suited to larger gardens or exposed landscapes with space to develop, preferring well drained soil and a sunny position.
