Pacific Silver Fir Tree (Abies Amabilis)

Pacific Silver Fir (Abies amabilis) is a shade tolerant evergreen conifer tree, valued among fir trees for its handsome, glossy dark green needles with silvery undersides. Best suited to sheltered, moist sites, Pacific Silver Fir does not cope well with exposure or drought, and grows poorly on peat or very dry soils, making thoughtful site selection important for successful establishment. Once settled into suitable conditions, this conifer tree develops a dense, elegant crown that provides valuable shelter for birds and other wildlife through the year. Left to mature, Pacific Silver Fir can reach up to 45 metres in height, forming an impressive specimen for larger, sheltered gardens and woodland schemes.

As one of the more shade tolerant fir trees, Pacific Silver Fir is well suited to underplanting and mixed woodland schemes where other conifers may struggle.
