Sitka Spruce Tree (Picea Sitchensis)

Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) is a fast growing conifer tree, thriving even in poor soils and on exposed ground, making it particularly well suited to the Scottish climate and similar challenging UK sites. As Britain's most widely planted productive spruce tree, Sitka Spruce accounts for a significant share of UK forest cover, prized for its rapid growth and tolerance of wind, rain and marginal ground. In its native Pacific Northwest range, Sitka Spruce can reach up to 60m in height, making it one of the tallest spruce species in the world, though UK grown specimens are typically smaller.
