Also known as Holm Oak, this evergreen tree can grow to a height of 90ft (27m).
It is tolerant of salt laden winds so will grow in exposed coastal sites and estuaries. It's leaves are adapted to withstand hot dry summers. It does not like heavy clay soils.
If clipped back hard it can be used as a hedge.
